All 6th graders at both Chehalem Valley and Mountain View Middle Schools learn and apply design thinking in 3 nine-week cycles, within three contexts: Art, STEM, and Digital Innovation. The year will culminate in teams of students self-selecting and executing real world design challenges integrating these three contexts.  Student teams will utilize 1:1 technology and the multi-faceted makerspaces available at both schools.  Teams of elective teachers from each middle school attended Construct’s Breakaway training in August 2017 and partner with George Fox University professor and author John Spencer for ongoing coaching. The goal is to have them enter high school already embracing and championing the 5Cs: Critical thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, and Citizenship.
